Terms of service

Meercase is operated by Meercase Technologies LLC, a Texas company located at 2500 Summer St, Suite 3200, Houston, TX 77007. These terms govern your use of meercase.com and our document preparation and filing services. By using Meercase, you agree to them.

Meercase is not a law firm and is not a substitute for an attorney. We provide self-help software and document preparation only. We do not give legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is created between you and Meercase. You represent yourself in your case, and every decision about it, including which defenses to raise, is yours.

If you want legal advice, talk to a licensed Texas attorney. The State Bar of Texas offers a lawyer referral service, and legal aid organizations serve Harris County residents who qualify.

We do not negotiate, settle, or reduce debts, and we do not provide credit counseling or credit repair. Our service is limited to preparing and filing a written Answer in your lawsuit and tracking the related deadline.

When you purchase Meercase, we prepare an Answer for your Harris County Justice of the Peace case from the responses you give us: a general denial, plus any defenses you choose. We then file it electronically with the court, or hold it at your request until you have been served, and we notify you about your deadline by email.

Case information shown on this site comes from public court records. We work to keep it accurate, but the court's own docket always controls.

• Provide truthful, accurate, and complete information. Your Answer is built from your responses, and you are responsible for what it says.
• Review your Answer before we file it. It is your court document.
• Keep track of your own deadline until you have confirmation that your Answer is on file with the court.
• Use the service only for your own case, and only lawfully.

You must be at least 18 years old and a party to a Harris County Justice of the Peace case, or preparing to respond to one, to use the service.

The service costs $49, paid once. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor; we do not store your full card number. Texas JP courts charge no fee to file an Answer, so there are no court fees on top.

Filing an Answer prevents an automatic default judgment while your case is decided, but we cannot and do not promise any result in your case. What a judge decides is outside our control.

We send service emails about your case, your deadline, and your filing. If you separately opt in to text messages, you can opt out at any time by replying STOP. We do not send marketing texts.

The Meercase site, software, and content belong to Meercase Technologies LLC. You get a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use them for your own case. The documents we prepare for you are yours to use in your case.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meercase Technologies LLC's total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us, or $100, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence or fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

You agree to indemnify Meercase Technologies LLC against claims arising from your violation of these terms or your misuse of the service.

These terms are governed by Texas law. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas.

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest revision, and continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
